Congratulations! If you're moving to the Wilmington area or considering it, you've found some great communities to call home.
The Best of the Everything
Whatever the season, our area is jam packed with wonderful things to do, whether you visit our world-renowned museums and cultural attractions, stroll in our sumptuous public gardens, enjoy the cultures and delicious foods of our many festivals or explore one of our historic districts. You can have it all -- from dinosaurs and sea shells to tall ships and more.
If it's music you enjoy, we go from cool to hot jazz, to blues, Gospel and rock. Perhaps an ethnic festival strikes your fancy? We have Greek, Polish, Italian, Hispanic, Afro, Chinese and German to name a few. It's all here in Greater Wilmington, Delaware.
Endless Opportunities Your new home in Delaware and Greater Wilmington's Brandywine Valley sparks a journey through the history and culture of America's past, even while you experience the vitality and energy of our future.
Throughout the city and surrounding area, 18th- and 19th-century architecture sits side by side modern office towers and shopping centers - and area attractions, amenities and dining reflect this same blend of historic charm and dynamic modern-day life. The advantages of living "south of the canal" are more land and more home for your money. Also, if you're lucky enough to commute north, you find the rolling countryside of the lower Peidmont Plateau in nearby Pennsylvania.
South to Old New Castle, Odessa, Smyrna and Middletown
To the south of Wilmington are the communities of Old New Castle, Smyrna, Odessa and Middletown They are some of the most desirable emerging residential areas in Delaware. Once trading centers for farming communities in lower Delaware, they have been expanding rapidly in the last 15 years as residential suburbs of Wilmington. Located a stones throw from Route 1, or Route 13, which feed directly into I-95, I-495, and I-295 you can quickly get to work and cultural events while still enjoying the tranquility of country living and/or the peace of the Delaware water front along the historic Strand, of Old New Castle.
North to Chadds Ford, Kennett Square and Longwood Gardens
Just 8 miles north of Wilmington is the Pennsylvania border and historic Chester County, North on routes 202 or 100 you reach Chadds Ford, the "Land of the Wyeths" and the site of the Battle of the Brandywine. Along Route 52, (Kennett Pike) is "Chateau Country" with the luxury shops of Greenville and Centerville. One of these great estates has become the spectacular Winterthur Museum, world renown for its collection of furniture and decorative arts dating from the early 1600's to the Victorian era. Stroll though Winterthur's azalea gardens, shop in its galleries, or take a guided tour of your special interests, it is an experience long to be remembered. Continuing on Rt. 52 to Pennsylvania is Longwood Gardens, with its fountains that rival Versailles and acres of gardens under glass. Just beyond Longwood Gardens is the quaint town of Kennett Square with its Victorian charm, wonderful shops and restaurants.
Easy Access to New York City, Baltimore and Washington
But all this historic interest won't keep you from enjoying the best of the modern world. Situated strategically in the center North East Corridor, we're within an hour of Philadelphia, and Baltimore, and only an hour and half by train from either New York City or Washington DC.

Our Champion Triple A Baseball Team

So Much to Do, So Easy to Get There

Making the Right Choice
Libby's friends and clients often call her "the best paid social worker" they know because she is concerned with the total family and its many interests. Whether it is "following parents" who may need special services, "following spouses" that are in need of new employment opportunities, children with special educational needs, Libby has the contacts and the experience to make the family transition successful. Although shopping, entertainment and recreation are important factors, it is these private family matters that are even more important if a successful relocation is to be accomplished. Her goal is to coordinate everything as smoothly and efficiently as for all the family members, so that it can be a happy homecoming when you arrive in our area.
